A Little Gift

I finished this not long after my Rock Island Shawl.  However it was on my list of projects for at least a week before then.

I was working on finishing my pride and joy and finally had to buckle down and get some blocking wires.  So I decided to go to my local yarn shop, Three Bags Full and Little Z and her mom came along.  And typical of all three year olds, Little Z had to touch everything and wanted to be helpful.  So I decided that she could help by holding onto a sample.  Low and behold, Little Z was carrying around the sample for this lovely yarn and the sample also happened to be this Baby Bear Hat!

It was a super easy knit.  I finished it within a day.  It was a nice break after working on the Rock Island for such a long time.  It was only a coincidence that the Rock Island and this Baby Bear hat are knitted from Lorna’s Laces yarn.  It’s even nicer that this pattern was a free download from Ravelry.  For any new knitters out there, Ravelry is a fantastic resource and once again, I have to thank my friend Jen for introducing me to this website.  Now some of you may have noticed that this material is handwash only.  And Yes I do realize that new moms and dads don’t have the luxury of handwashing clothes and Yes, I do realize that babies grow really quickly and most likely this hat will be worn for about a week and then no longer fit.  I don’t want to make excuses but it is so soft and warm!  Just what a little newborn’s head should have to keep him warm in the winter months, even if it is for a week.  Anyways, I hope my sister likes my little gift and when my future nephew outgrows it, I know there will be a future stuffed toy that will love to wear this hat and this toy will never out grow it.
